Teriyaki Beef

This is one of children’s favourite dishes at Japanese restaurants, especially when it has too much sugar. You can use thinly sliced beef and cook this as a stir fry or use 1cm thick pieces of fillet and pan fry them. Let’s keep the sugar level at reasonable so it isn’t the dominant flavour.

Ingredients

  • 400
    g
    Beef Sirloin, Round or Topside
    thinly sliced across the grain
  • 2
    tbsp
    Neutral Oil
    for frying
  • 1 1/2
    tbsp
    Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1 1/2
    tbsp
    Mirin
  • 1
    tbsp
    Sake
  • 1/2
    small
    Thumb Ginger
  • 1
    clove(s)
    Garlic
    grated
  • 1 1/2
    tbsp
    Brown Sugar

Directions

  • 1 Combine all marinade ingredients in a bowl and stir to dissolve the sugar then add the beef and marinate for two hours.
  • 2 Heat the oil in a frying pan or on a BBQ flat grill and quickly cook the beef, adding any leftover marinade as it cooks, making sure that the marinade boils before serving.
